Natale in Finlandia
La Bella Principessa a Milano Presents:
Leaving home to Finland for Christmas was slightly a disaster. Milan was packed with traffic and I couldn`t get a taxi in time. I missed the first train to Malpensa and I was worried of also missing my flight to Helsinki. I broke my Samsonite and I was scared what would come next. It turned out to be the missing Master Card of the passenger sitting next to me.
It was fresh -18C and I was happy about the snowy weather. When we got to Rauma we left to “Tonttujen yö” immediately. All the little stores in the Old Rauma were open until 21.00 and we wanted to visit Westlook for some shopping. Afterwards we saw fireworks in the city center. It was great to return home. As a tradition of the first evening home we enjoyed cheese fondue and champagne…and of course sauna.

Time flew and I made a few visits to Turku to see my friends (and my dentist) before the Christmas Eve. I was lucky not to put on any weight during the festival season… much to thank for the painkillers I was eating during the two weeks’ time.

On Monday before the New Year`s Eve I left to Helsinki. I was happy to see all the new babies my best friends/ cousin had gotten. (I am almost getting the message that it should be me next…) Meeting my friends in Helsinki was a slight disappointment (they were al out of the city/country). Luckily my dear Juuso never lets me down and we had a nice dinner together.

Next day was sightseeing in Suomenlinna and in the city…also some shopping in Stockman. The hotel GLO was great, especially the big bathtub and free internet. On the second evening we ate at Raffaello which was a horrible experience for people living in Italy. I am never returning there again!

On Wednesday was Turku- day and all my best friends there. Before the dinner in Sergio`s we made some sightseeing and babysitting. 9 months old Luca stole my heart again. I love returning to Sergio`s, like always the food was great and service as well. The evening ended in Armas with some Finnish karaoke. Help!!!!

On the New Years Eve we did some more sightseeing by the riverside. We ended up walking to the castle of Turku in the chilly-18C weather just to find out that it was closed. Damn reception of the hotel… well, the appetite rose for sure.

The evening was spent with my parents and their friends in Rauma. We had a nice dinner in Kalatorin Majatalo. Later back at home we witnessed all the fireworks outside, made the New Years Tin and predicted the course of the coming year. I didn`t know that even the ancient Greeks used similar methods to tell the future.

Happy New Years! Auguri di Buon Anno!
