Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010

La Bella Principessa a Milano Presents:

Some 15 years ago I made a promise that I would return to Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics. It was time to fulfill my promise. The past few weeks I have been working like crazy and by the time of Valentine’s Day I started to realize that I needed to pack my luggage for the coming 3 weeks. I despise packing and unpacking, but I still don’t earn enough money to have someone else to do it behalf of me…one day I will.

I travelled for 22 hours to get to the other side of the world with missing 2 nights of sleep due to my early departure time. The flight wasn’t that bad; I had a row just for myself, fruit meals onboard and the movies were new and most of all… they were in English!!!

My high school best friend Nikki was waiting for me in the airport. The first night we ordered in some Chinese, drank some Champagne and just relaxed home. (Let’s say that I was just trying to stay awake…)

The second night we attended some parties in Granville Island and Yaletown. The boys made me try Segway despite that I was horrified to get on it at the beginning. I was told afterwards that I am a natural born rider. Hih hih… Sure!

The second full day it was time to go downtown to see the festivities. I have been to Vancouver a few times before, but I need to admit that I barely remembered how it looked like. I know a lot has changed from the time I was in the city the last time.

The only tourist attraction I do remember clearly is the Gastown Clock.

The day was sunny and gorgeous. You wouldn’t believe that this is the winter Olympics city. It is warmer than in Milan at the moment.

After walking for some hours we ended up to the touristic stores. I couldn’t leave the store without the penguin hat that I tried on. I had to have it.

The Athlete’s village is behind me.

The Inukshuk symbol is the symbol of the Olympics. It represents friendship in the Inuit culture.

Thanks Nikki for helping me taking the pictures.

XOXO
